Freshman Parent Orientation

What students will cover

• Overview of the daily schedule
• Dress code walkthrough
• Lunches and the cafeteria

Locks & lockers

• Students keep the same lock for all four years
• Please have your student practice opening their lock

Drop-off traffic pattern

• Traffic needs to keep moving — please do not park your vehicle
• Drop students off, then proceed to Queens Highway to exit campus
• Students should exit the vehicle from the passenger side
• The left lane is for upperclassmen and cars exiting

Pick-up traffic pattern

• Please do not park in the semi-circle in front of the school
• Traffic needs to keep moving in the semi-circle
• Students should be picked up along the curb, entering on the passenger side
• The left lane is for moving traffic only — no pick-ups from the left lane

HN Dress Down Days

• Holy Name t-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, or hooded sweatshirts
• Holy Name sweatpants, shorts that hang to fingertip length, or casual pants (cargo pants, jeans, capris for young ladies)
• Regular school shoes, athletic shoes, or work boots

Mass Days — a more formal uniform

• Boys: white shirt and a Holy Name tie (available in our Team Shop)
• Girls: skirt or long pants with their uniform shirt or blouse
• No shorts are permitted on Mass Days

The policy, simply put

• Cell phone use is not permitted during the school day
• Phones must be turned off between 7:45 AM and 2:35 PM and stored in the student's locked locker
• Texting on any device — including iPads — is prohibited between 7:45 AM and dismissal
• The school assumes no responsibility for items that are broken, lost, or stolen

• Any action that interferes with this development will not be tolerated
• Administrative decisions are final

JUG — "Juvenile Under Guidance"

• A school-issued after-school detention
• Served the day of the infraction or the next school day
• 2:45 – 3:15 PM, Mondays through Thursdays
• Detentions accumulate throughout the entire year

Wednesday School

• Assigned for: a phone-policy violation, tardies, forging a signature, accumulating four detentions, or by the Assistant Principal of Student Life
• Held monthly, 2:45 – 5:45 PM — families are notified in advance
• Takes priority over extracurriculars
• Does not eliminate the student's detention obligation

Your window into grades & progress

• Your Parent Log In and Parent Key are in tonight's packet
• Use them to create your parent account and follow your student's progress all year

What probation means

• A student who does not pass at least 5 courses is ineligible for the entire following quarter
• A student with a GPA lower than 1.9 may be considered for reinstatement at the midpoint of the quarter, depending upon their academic performance
• No practices, games, or extracurricular participation until eligibility is restored

The path back

• Pass each class and complete all class work satisfactorily
• Meet the terms of the Academic Probation Contract
• Record reviewed at the end of the quarter — terms met, probation is lifted
• Unmet terms may lead to dismissal

How it works

• An option for all freshmen and sophomores
• Complete 2 full seasons of Holy Name athletics, Marching Band, and/or cheerleading
• In exchange, the student is waived from the two PE classes required for graduation
• No credit and no letter grade is earned — the waiver simply fulfills the requirement

The program

• A condition of enrollment: when requested, students submit to a hair test conducted by school-approved personnel
• The school will attempt to test all students during the school year

If a student does not pass

• Required to attend a school-approved drug counseling program — we work with families to arrange it promptly
• Proof of attendance and completion goes to the Administration
• Retesting every 90–100 calendar days for the remainder of their time at Holy Name, at the parent's expense

2026–2027 Free & Reduced Lunch Application

Holy Name offers free and reduced lunch to students who qualify under the federal income guidelines. Complete this application — along with the FACTS Grant & Aid application on the school website — and upload it to your student's FinalForms account.

Limited Power of Attorney

For families using the Ohio EdChoice or Cleveland Scholarship programs — this form authorizes the school's Finance Director to apply scholarship payments toward your student's tuition.
